The Holiday Inn brand is being expanded in the UK by InterContinental Hotels Group with three new openings.
A 95-room Holiday Inn Express is to open at Edinburgh airport next spring followed by a 75-room Holiday Inn Express in Ealing in early 2015.
An 80-room Holiday Inn, by junction 59 of the M1 motorway near Darlington, is also planned for spring 2014 with a new open lobby concept, meeting rooms, a gym, bar and restaurant.
There are 257 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK with 12 hotels in the pipeline set to open over the next three to five years.
The three new hotels are opening under franchise agreements and follow IHG announcing a InterContinental hotel at the O2 in London and a Crowne Plaza south of the River Thames in the capital earlier this week.
IHG chief development officer Robert Shepherd said: “These investments in the Holiday Inn brand family reflect its success not only in Europe, but also globally as the brands continue to appeal to both investors and consumers in an increasingly competitive hotel market.”
