Hayes and Jarvis is reporting a boom in luxury holiday demand in 2013 with New York leading the way in terms of sales and Vietnam the biggest growth country.
Thailand, Las Vegas, Maldives and Mauritius are the next biggest sellers with South Africa, Kenya, Louisiana and Tanzania completing the most improved top five.
The operator revealed most of its growth is coming from late bookings with last minute bookings to Vietnam up 140% and to South Africa up 76%.
Head of commercial Sean Dowd said: “Vietnam is that next step for travellers looking to explore Asia, perhaps after visiting Thailand.
“The access to the country has opened up over the past year or so with direct flights from Gatwick to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Vietnam Airlines, encouraging its popularity. It’s full of rich culture, outstanding beaches and beauty.”
The desire to see more in a single trip is continuing to grow with multi centre bookings now accounting for more than a quarter of Hayes and Jarvis’ business.
The best performing multi centre options for 2013 are Africa’s beach/safari (112 per cent increase) and India tours (271 per cent increase).
Hawaii is also seeing growth as a multi centre destination, with customers choosing to stop in a USA city before heading there.
Dowd added: “We have seen a 10% increase in our tailor-made bookings since the beginning of the year.
“A growing number of travellers want to experience more than one city or destination in one trip – whether it’s beach and a safari or discovering hidden Asian gems– our customers are keen to explore.”
In the Indian Ocean Mauritius has performed best so far in 2013, in the Caribbean St Lucia is achieving the highest numbers.
