Dubai gets standalone treatment as emphasis shifts to attractions

Anew brochure from Dnata Travel aims to promote Dubai as a standalone destination as well as a stopover.

The operator, part of the Emirates Group, has just launched an 18-page brochure, Destination Dubai, with double-page spreads on culture and heritage, shopping, entertainment, sports and tours.

Sales and marketing executive Leanne Hall said: “The idea is to educate the trade that Dubai is a destination in its own right. As little is known about Dubai we decided to use the brochure to show agents what you can see and do in the city, instead of just focusing on accommodation.

“We think it will be a good selling tool to help agents sell the benefits to their clients.

“We think there is enough to keep visitors busy for at least seven days in Dubai. Aside from the beaches, shopping and golf, there are desert tours and day trips to the more traditional Arab city of Abu Dhabi, and Al-Ain, also known as the Garden City, one of the oldest settlements in the region.”

Coinciding with the launch, the company has a special three-night £299 deal to Dubai until the end of September. The price includes flights with Qatar Airways, three-star accommodation with breakfast and return transfers.

Also included in the deal is a Visiting Companion card which entitles the holder to discounts in restaurants, nightclubs and attractions throughout the city.

On this special offer, agents get £30 commission for a booking for two people.

The company plans to boost business through independent agents by holding a series of roadshows throughout the UK this autumn. Also in the pipeline are educationals, incentive schemes and a training programme.
