Expanding low-cost carrier AirAsia saw passenger numbers rise by a quarter in 2013 to 42.6 million.
This came as the Malaysian-based airline added 39 aircraft to bring its fleet up to 154 and maintained its overall load factor at 79%, the same as 2012.
The group now has offshoots in Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, having shut operations in Japan in October.
The core Malaysian business carried almost 22 million passengers, up 11% on the previous year, while the Thai arm flew 26% more at 10.5 million, AirAsia Indonesia flew 34% more at 7.8 million and AirAsia Philippines carried 2.2 million following the addition of five aircraft.
Expansion was fuelled during the year by the takeover of Philippines-based Zest Air and its fleet of 11 aircraft.
AirAsia is also looking to start operations in India through a joint venture this year.
