Duke of Edinburgh to join Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 celebrations

The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 in Southampton in May to celebrate the ship’s 10th anniversary.

He will attend a reception and lunch on board and will also visit several behind-the-scenes crew areas.

Full details of the visit have not yet been revealed, but Cunard’s chief executive David Dingle said: “We are delighted and honoured that His Royal Highness has agreed to visit Queen Mary 2 and take part in our flagship’s 10th anniversary, having been present at her entry into service.

“For all those involved, this will surely be another memorable occasion in Cunard’s long history.”

Since being launched, the Queen Mary 2 has sailing on 419 voyages including more than 200 transatlantic crossings. The vessel has called at 182 ports in 60 countries and carried more than 1.3 million guests.
