Thomson is to open three new Sensatori hotels next year, including the well-known Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel in Cyprus.
The three new Sensatori properties, in Ibiza, Turkey and Cyprus, represent a 50% increase for the five-star brand from the current six hotels to nine for 2015.
Sensatori hotels are exclusive to Thomson out of the UK and require hotels to meet strict criteria.
The Sensatori Resort Ibiza will be located on the beach in Cala Tarida. The property will be the first short-haul property in the collection.
It will shut this winter to undergo a major refurbishment costing “tens of millions of euros”, according to product director Mark Hall.
It will boast five a la carte restaurants, four bars, and five pools including an adults-only pool with built-in sun loungers and a children’s splash pool.
The second property will be a new-build. The Sensatori Fesort Fethiye in Turkey’s Dalaman region, to be built over the coming months, will allow Thomson to boost its cruise-and-stay offerings in the area.
The third new hotel will be the Sensatori Resort Aphrodite Hills, already one of Cyprus’ best-known and flagship hotels, which overlooks Aphrodite’s birthplace and boasts an 18-hole golf course.
It will shut this winter to be refurbished, which will include the addition of more room types and new restaurant.
Hall said: “We are very proud that Aphrodite Hills is coming into the Sensatori family. It is such a high quality hotel but we are confident we can make it even better.”
Thomson is also adding the Hotel Atlantic Palace, Italy, a Thomson Couples hotel for next summer, while First Choice is introducing the three-star all-inclusive Arinara SuneoClub budget hotel in Phuket, Thailand.
