Princess to screen all World Cup matches

All 64 matches in the World Cup are to be screened on selected Princess Cruises’ ships from next month.

The tournament in Brazil will be shown on the ships’ 300sq ft top deck ‘Movies Under the Stars’ cinema screens, which have space for hundreds of passengers to watch.

The screenings will take place on nine ships, including new vessel Regal Princess sailing in the Mediterranean this summer, plus Royal Princess, Ruby Princess and Emerald Princess, which are all operating in Europe.

Football-themed events and activities will be arranged for fans including quizzes, competitions and face painting.

UK and Europe managing director Paul Ludlow said: “Watching a big football game at sea is an amazing experience.

“We’re confident that our first-class on board facilities, combined with the big match atmosphere our screens create, will offer a unique World Cup experience for guests.

“And when England are inevitably beaten on penalties you can always console yourself with a cocktail or two, or unwind in our luxury spa.”

The ships involved and the destinations they will serve during the tournament are:

  • Ruby Princess, British Isles and North Cape
  • Regal Princess, Mediterranean
  • Emerald Princess, Mediterranean and Baltics
  • Royal Princess, Scandinavia and Russia
  • Diamond Princess, Far East (pictured)
  • Sapphire Princess, Far East
  • Sun Princess, Far East
  • Sea Princess, Australia and Far East
  • Dawn Princess, world cruise
