First AirAsia India flight announced

The first flight by AirAsia India is set to take off on June 12.

Chief executive Tony Fernandes (pictured) announced on his Twitter feed that tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Friday).

AirAsia India is a joint venture with Tata Sons and Arun Bathia of Telestra Tradeplace.

The airline received its first 180-seat Airbus A320 at Kamaraj airport, Chennai, in March and had been awaiting its air operators’ certificate.

Fernandes said: “Very, very proud to announce AirAsia India open for sale tomorrow. Wow.”
