Porker risks his bacon now there’s a Betton it

ABTA’S public relations supremo has turned sumo, Backchat has learned.

Keith Betton – better known as the twitcher of Newman Street – has lost his familiar slimline figure and has ballooned to a whopping 15 and a half stone.

Hard to believe, but certainly true.

And unless he sheds a total of 15lbs by the time of the ABTA Convention in Cairns in November, he will have to hurl himself headfirst off a 100ft platform down into the Australian rainforest.

It’s all part of a bet with French Life boss Warren Sandral, who has set a challenge for Betton.

He has to either make a return to his former skinny self or to carry out the forfeit of a bungee jump. Now it’s worth mentioning that on a recent visit to Queensland, Betton could not even summon up the courage to climb up to the platform to see Travel Agents’ Council chairman Stephen Bath throw himself over the edge.

“The incentive is huge – I will lose weight,” Betton declared confidently.

He put his extraordinary weight gain down to a knee injury that makes his once-a-month jaunt to the local gym a complete no-no.

Sources suggested to Backchat that Betton was even considering curtailing his many TV appearances until he lost some weight.

Keith Betton quitting TV? Don’t be ridiculous.
