Ryanair saw a 4% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers in May.
Customer traffic grew by 300,000 to 8.2 million last month, compared to the 7.9 million passengers who travelled with the airline last May.
The airline issued new figures today showing that its annual traffic had reached a “record 82.3 million customers” and that load factor had increased three points to 85%.
Kenny Jacobs, the airline’s chief marketing officer, said: “Ryanair traffic grew by 300,000 to 8.2m customers in May, thanks to the continuing success of our lower fares and our improving customer experience, including our great new website, allocated seating, a free second small carry-on bag and PED (portable electric device) use on all flights.
“Ryanair continues to deliver so much more than just the lowest fares for our 82.3m customers.
“We are especially pleased with the 3% point improvement in May load factor, which is slightly ahead of our 2% point growth target.”
The new figures come just weeks after Ryanair announced its profits had slipped by 8% to €523 million in the year to March.
