Ryanair introduces family and agent friendly product

Doubts that Ryanair’s new-found liking for working through agents will extend to leisure retailers have been somewhat dispelled with the launch of a new family product today.

Ryanair chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs confirmed the offering would be available to agents buying seats on behalf of customers.

The Irish budget carrier returned to then GDSs in April having agrees to be sold through Travelport.

However, there were doubts that the carrier was all that interested in leisure bookings through agents as opposed to more lucrative corporate travellers.

As part of a wider strategy to be nicer to customers ad attract families, the airline has introduced baby bottle warming and changing facilities on flights.

Discounts and other enhancements are included in the new Ryanair Family Extra package.

Half price allocated seating and checked-in bags for children is including alongside discounted priority boarding.

Other features include:

• 50% off travel insurance for children
• Reduced infant fees (now £20)
• A free 5kg infant bag allowance
• Bottle warming and baby changing facilities on board
• Two free pieces of infant equipment (buggy, booster seat, car seat or travel cot, carried in the hold)
• Bringing an approved car seat on board when a seat is booked
• 20% off a third family flight

Jacobs said: “This is the latest in a long line of Ryanair customer improvements, following allocated seating, a free second carry-on bag, reduced fees and a new website and we will next unveil our brand new app and mobile boarding passes in July, followed by a tailored business product, as we continue to offer so much more than just the lowest fares.”
