Avalon Waterways adds Myanmar sailings

Avalon Waterways is to offer sailings on the Irrawaddy in Myanmar for the first time.

The river cruise line’s 2015 programme includes the new itineraries on new ship Avalon Myanmar.

The 15-day Golden Myanmar & the Irrawaddy trip includes a 10-night cruise combined with a three-night land stay.

The cruise is available on a north or southbound itinerary with the option of pre or post-stays in Yangon, Bangkok or the Inle area.

The new itinerary will involve sailing past riverside villages, temples and ancient cities with pagodas.

It will call in Bagan, Amarapura, Mandalay, Bhamo, Sagaing and the Islands of Kyun Daw. Prices lead in at £5,369.

The new ship is one of Avalon’s ‘Suite Ships’, with all staterooms having panoramic windows. The 36-passenger ship’s rooms are larger than Avalon’s European equivalent.

Early bookers can take advantage of £600 off per couple on bookings made from the Asia programme before September 30.
