P&O Cruises claims new ship Britannia will run the most comprehensive schedule of cookery classes for all ages and abilities.
Resident chef and manager of The Cookery Club on the ship – launching next March – has been named as Rob Cottam, who joins the line from Leiths School of Food & Wine in London and Ashburton Cookery School.
The Cookery Club will have 24 stations for participants while celebrity chefs such as Marco Pierre White and James Martin, together with food experts including master pâtissier Eric Lanlard, will take master-classes and host interactive classes over lunch and dinner at the chef’s table on board.
Other celebrity chefs will be joining the ship for special demonstrations and classes, with details yet to be announced.
Cottam said: “Many of the classes will reflect the ports of call so passengers can go to local markets, vineyards and see speciality producers in the morning before an afternoon learning how to use wonderful Mediterranean, European and Caribbean ingredients, herbs and spices to create exciting dishes they can recreate at home.”
P&O Cruises marketing director Christopher Edgington said: “There is no other cookery school in the world which combines seeing the ingredients at source and then learning how to use those ingredients with some of this country’s most celebrated and inspirational chefs.
“Whether you are a complete beginner, a competent home cook or simply have a passion for food then The Cookery Club will add a whole new dimension to the holiday experience.”
