Average pay for new travel jobs have hit a 15-month high of £25,304, according to new figures.
The level was up 3.45% from last June, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Travel Recruitment and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, which surveyed all new roles registered at the companies during the month.
Sales director Barbara Kolosinska said: “Travel salaries have now risen in five of the first six months of the year, which is an impressive statistic for any industry.
“Average wages for new travel jobs are now at their highest point since April 2013 and have actually increased by more than £1,250 since the start of the year.”
Average wages rose by a marginal 0.36% last month after a 5.70% rise in May,
“Carrying on from what we saw in May, there was another strong rise in salaries for standard travel roles last month with roles in and around London seeing the highest monthly rise, which certainly contributed to the overall increase,” said Kolosinka.
“The executive jobs market actually saw a fall in salaries in June, although the number of available roles remained consistent.”
June also saw a rise in the number of candidates stating their interest in finding a new job in travel, with registrations hitting their highest level for three months, while the number of new roles being made available also rose to levels last seen at the start of the year.
“Despite the distractions of the World Cup, Wimbledon and the occasional sunny day, we were delighted to see that many travel candidates still took the time to concentrate on their career and seek out a new role“, said Kolosinska.
“And, luckily for them, more travel jobs were made available last month than at any point since January – meaning plenty of new opportunities are now ready for the taking.”
