An Air Algerie aircraft has reportedly crashed in Niger after vanishing from radar.
The flight departed from Burkina Faso in west Africa early this morning, bound for Algiers.
According to Algeria’s national news agency, ABS, the plane lost contact about 50 minutes after taking off from Ouagadougou airport early this morning.
The plane was operated by Air Algerie for Spanish private airline company Swiftair, which said it had initiated an emergency response.
There were 110 passengers and six crew onboard when the plane departed.
In a statement on Swiftair’s website, the company said that flight AH5017 had taken off from Burkina Faso at 01.17am and was intended to land in Algiers at 05.10am, but never reached its destination.
