Bank of China’s leasing arm puts in $8.8 billion Boeing order

The aircraft leasing arm of the Bank of China has ordered 82 aircraft from Boeing for $8.8 billion.

BOC Aviation’s Boeing order comes in addition to the order of 188 Airbus aircraft over the past 18 months.

Around half of the Boeing jets will be used in the expanding Asian market, which  will account for 32% of passenger traffic by 2017, according to Iata.

The latest order is for a mixture of single-aisle 737 Max 8 aircraft and 737-800 aircraft, which will be delivered from 2016-2021.
