Tourists injured in Canadian bus crash

Dozens of people have been reported injured, six of them critically, when a tour bus on its way back from the Rocky Mountains rolled over on a highway in British Columbia.

All 56 passengers suffered injuries when the southbound bus crashed at about 3pm local time about three hours northeast of Vancouver.

Six of the passengers were in critical condition and 15 were seriously hurt, according to local police.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The bus was the only vehicle involved.

The highway was closed Thursday evening, with air ambulances landing on the road.

The bus was believed to have been chartered by an operator which runs tours for Chinese tourists.

Nick Kam, director of service for Super Vacation, a company that identifies itself on its website as the largest ‘Chinese tour operator in North America,’ confirmed the bus was on a tour organised by his company, the Canadian Press reported.
