British Airways low-cost carrier Go has applied to launch services to Geneva and Zurich from Stansted.
No start date has been given, but when flights start, probably in time for the ski season, Go will compete with Swissair Express on the Zurich route.
Go’s plans, submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority last week, will also step up its battle with EasyJet for passengers as the Luton-based carrier is in the process of setting up a European hub in Geneva.
Meanwhile, British Midland has asked the CAA for rights to serve Prague from Stansted. Go has already applied for the route.
If British Midland’s application is successful, it would be the carrier’s first services from the Essex airport.
British Midland already serves Prague nine times a week from Heathrow.
