Cruise & Maritime Voyages is re-routing a voyage from Australia to the UK to avoid West Africa due to the Ebola virus outbreak.

The ship Astor, due to depart from Freemantle to London Tilbury on March 16, will still call in to Durban and Cape Town with St Helena and Cape Verde added.

But the 46-night itinerary has been cut to 38 nights “due to the recent Ebola outbreak and associated health risks in the West African region,” CMV said.

Prices for the amended sailing start at £3,019 for the first passenger with the second passenger travelling half price at £1,509 in addition to an air travel credit starting at £250pp.

The ship is now due to arrive in Tilbury on April 23 and will run a new eight-night cruise to Invergordon, the Hebrides, Tobermory, Dublin, Isles of Scilly and Honfleur with prices leading in at £639 per person.
