Luton airport evacuated

Luton Airport has been evacuated after a “suspect package” was found.


According to the BBC, people were told to leave the terminal after a package was found in the security area at around 2pm.


Bedfordshire police said the package was being examined and that the terminal had been evacuated while this happens.


All incoming flights have been suspended and passengers are being told to contact their airline.


On Twitter, Luton airport said: “We are working closely with the police to ensure minimum inconvenience, but we must ensure that the safety of all remains top priority.


“All flights have been suspended, the roads between Junction 10a on the M1 leading up to the airport have been closed.”
