Loews Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans for a 1,000-room hotel to open at Universal Orlando Resort in 2016.
Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be the fifth resort hotel to open at the theme park. The Caribbean-inspired property will take bookings from the spring of 2015 and bring the number of on-site hotel rooms at Universal Orlando to 5,200.
The hotel will be located on the other side of Adventure Way, opposite the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. It will be built around a lagoon and waterfall and is being promoted as a “colourful Caribbean hideaway”. Its 1,000 rooms will include 77 suites.
The themed resort will include a resort-style pool with a water slide; a children’s play area; sandy beach and fire pit in a central courtyard surrounded by the hotel’s rooms. There will be water taxis and shuttles to the resort’s entertainment and restaurant areas.
Jonathan Tisch, chairman of Loews Hotels & Resorts, said: “Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be every bit as distinctive as the other four on-site hotels and will offer a new option to families looking for a truly special Orlando holiday.”
The hotel will offer early park admission to Universal’s theme parks, a restaurant with outdoor dining, a themed lobby lounge, poolside bar and grill, a ‘marketplace’ restaurant offering quick service, valet service and a fitness centre.
