UK-based attractions giant Merlin Entertainments reported a good summer with like-for-like revenue growth of 6.7% in the 36 weeks to September 6.
The Alton Towers and Thorpe Park parent company said more rides and attractions would be added to Legoland Parks in Windsor and Florida next year.
A new 152-room hotel is due to open at Legoland Florida in 2015 while an ‘enchanted village’ comprising of lodges and tree houses will be developed at Alton Towers.
Next-generation ticketing trials continue to progress at Thorpe Park and Sea Life in Birmingham, “with the intention of improving the customer purchase journey and supporting ongoing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities,” the company said.
Seven new sites are to be added to the company’s ‘Midway’ range of attractions next year in the UK, US and Japan with a further site to be announced.
CEO Nick Varney said: “We are pleased with the growth enjoyed over the summer period and with the progress made against our strategic growth drivers.
“Whilst there remain some important trading periods to come, we are confident that we can deliver another year of good underlying growth.
“The prospects for 2015 and beyond are attractive, as Merlin continues to execute on its strategic growth drivers, and to focus on delivering memorable experiences for our visitors.”
