Travel industry accountancy firm Elman Wall is extending its expertise in partnership with a leading VAT expert.
The London-based company today (Wednesday) revealed the formation of Elman Wall Bennett, Travel VAT and TOMS Consultants, with leading travel VAT specialist David Bennett (pictured).
Bennett, who has focused on the VAT issues affecting the travel industry for more than 20 years, acts for many tour operating groups, travel agents and event agencies.
He also advises a number of trade organisations, including Abta, the European Tour Operators Association and the Guild of Travel Management Companies.
Bennett also represents Abta on the fiscal committee of ECTAA, the body representing European travel agent and tour operator associations.
He was a partner at Saffery Champness since 2007 and prior to that was a director at Deloitte.
Bennett said: “I am really looking forward to working with Elman Wall to create a new consultancy devoted to the needs of the travel sector. Our aim is to be recognised as the leading advisor in this area.
“There are many challenges ahead, notably in the form of likely changes to TOMS at a European level and in the attitude of HMRC to the collection of revenue, and I’m really looking forward to getting started”.
Elman Wall managing director Jonathan Wall said: “I am delighted that David Bennett is partnering with us. David is the foremost expert on VAT in the UK as it affects the travel industry which as a sector is heavily affected by HMRC decisions on the application of VAT and TOMS.
“David’s expertise in VAT complements our own travel industry audit, tax and, M&A specialisations and allows us to provide our clients and the wider travel industry with a complete range of leading edge advisory solutions.
“We look forward to hosting David’s popular seminars in our new City offices.”
*The fourth Elman Wall travel director’s summit takes place on October 8 at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium with keynote speaker Luke Johnson, chairman of private equity house Risk Capital Partners. He is majority owner of Cruise.co.uk and Neilson Active Holidays. The theme is ‘Leadership and Legacy’.
