British Airways has partnered with KidZania London, an educational entertainment brand based at the Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, London.
The tie-up has seen the body of a British Airways-branded A319 aircraft lifted into the site, a process which took 48 hours from start to finish. KidZania is aimed at children aged from four to fourteen, and is founded on the concept of creating realistic role-plays, experienced in real-world settings.
The installation is the culmination of over a year’s planning in conjunction with Westfield London, Network Rail, Transport for London and each of the counties the body of the aircraft passed through on its journey to London from Kemble Airbase, Gloucestershire.
Abigail Comber, head of marketing at British Airways, said: “We’re so excited that KidZania is coming to London. It’s an experience we simply had to be part of.
“This weekend’s events are the first step of what will be an incredible opportunity to bring children’s imagination and dreams to life.”
Joel Cadbury, chairman of KidZania London, added: “We are delighted to welcome British Airways to KidZania London and could not have hoped for a more inspirational airline industry partner.”
