ONE-THIRD of British motorists taking a UK holiday or business trip have considered giving up their cars, according to a survey undertaken by Avis as part of its strategy to promote the concept of rail-drive in the UK.
However, an equal number said they wanted a good alternative form of transport before they take such a step. Avis believes the results show there are opportunities to tempt drivers off the roads and encourage them to use rail services and rent a car when they arrive at their destination.
It is now keen to raise awareness among agents of its partnership with rail operator GNER and the financial savings they can offer clients who rent a car through the alliance.
The standard daily UK rate for a Group A car is from £73. The same car booked through a partnership deal costs £37 a day.
Avis partnership marketing manager Claire Harrold said:”The aim of this research was to get a better understanding of customers and how to tailor our product to meet their needs. We have now put a joint marketing plan together and the partnership is being promoted more.”
