Singapore set to reveal new travel marketing campaign

SINGAPORE will unveil a replacement for its highly successful MillenniaMania marketing campaign at the Pacific Asia Travel Association travel mart in Singapore this April.

Singapore Tourism Board chief executive Yeo Khee Leng said the 15-month-long MillenniaMania campaign, which ends on August 31, boosted visitor numbers by 11.5% to 6.96m in 1999. The total number of visitors from the UK, Singapore’s largest European market, was 401,474, an increase of 12% over 1998.

Details of the new campaign are being kept under wraps until next month but Leng said it should help increase visitor numbers by a further 5%-7% this year, to a total of 7.4m.

The annual Singapore Food Festival, which usually takes place in June, has been brought forward a couple of months to stimulate demand for the destination during April, and the tourism board is working on several new tourism projects.

“One of the things we are looking at is agro-tourism and we will soon be introducing visits to some of the few small farms in Singapore,” he added.
