Barcelona has overtaken Dublin as most popular October half-term destination from Gatwick.
Dublin drops to second place with Tenerife third favourite, followed by Amsterdam and Orlando.
The airport expects to handle about one million passengers over the autumn school half-term period between October 24 and November 2, with more than 509,000 expected to depart.
Friday, October 24 – the first day of the school break – is expected to be the busiest day with around 64,000 people expected to travel, while Sunday, November 2 will see around 60,000 people return via Gatwick.
The airport’s operations manager, Nick Pope, said: “This has been a record year for passenger numbers at Gatwick and this October is no exception.
“Gatwick is ready to welcome more than one million passengers and we’re expecting this October half term to be one of our busiest yet.”
