n scherz takes new marketing role with tourist office



The Austrian National Tourist Office appointed a new marketing manager, Thomas Scherz, last Thursday. Scherz has spent the last one and a half years at the organisation’s Vienna head office, marketing Austria to the regions of Central and Eastern Europe.



n ANTO sets date For annual workshop in September



The Austrian National Tourist Office’s annual Austria Workshop will take place on September 14, from 3pm-6.30pm. The event will be attended by 30 organisations including tourist offices and ground handlers. It is aimed at tour operators and group travel organisers. The venue has not yet been set.



n playcastle tyrol offers new medieval-style attraction



PlayCastle Tyrol, a theme park built in the style of a medieval castle, opened in May in the resort of Seefeld. Visitors can seereconstructions of medieval life in the Knight’s Hall and try attractions including a Motion ‘n’ Rideadventure cinema, where the seats shake with the action.



n Strauss remembered with 100th anniversary concerts



This year is the 100th anniversary of the death of composer Johann Strauss, who lived in Vienna. Commemorative events include a series of autumn concerts by the Vienna Boys’ Choir at the Musikverein, home to Vienna’s philharmonic orchestra. More info at www.info.wien.at
