A new director and deputy director for the Tunisian National Tourist Office (TNTO) in the UK and Ireland have been named.
Tarek Aouadi, previously director for the TNTO in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, heads the London office and is supported by deputy director Mounira Derbel Ben Cherifa, who moves from working in the Tunis head office
The appointments came as the secularist Nidaa Tounes party won 85 seats in the country’s parliament following elections on Sunday.
The governing Islamist Ennahda party won 69 seats in the 217-seat chamber.
Aouadi said: “We are very excited about this new chapter for the Tunisian National Tourist Board and we hope to continue highlighting Tunisia’s tourist offerings. Tunisia is the perfect destination for those looking for a family-friendly, cultural or spa holiday.
“Tourism figures for 2014 are looking strong and with Jet2 recently announcing flights to Tunisia for summer 2015 from five northern airports and Just Sunshine’s route from Bristol, we hope that Tunisia’s popularity will continue to rise in the next year.”
The pair will be attending World Travel Market next week as they aim to encourage visitors to rediscover the North African destination.
