New Cook representative appointed to Abta board

Thomas Cook’s legal expert Craig Stoehr has joined the Abta board, the association announced today.

He has taken the appointed position that had been occupied by Mike Hoban, Cook’s chief marketing officer, who left the business in May.

Stoehr is chief corporate officer and general counsel at Thomas Cook Group, and serves on the Group Executive Committee.

He is responsible for all group legal, governance, plc secretariat, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, external and government affairs, sustainability, transformation and strategy and human resources.

Before joining Cook, Stoehr  was a corporate partner of Latham and Watkins LLP, a leading international law firm.

Stoehr said: “I am pleased to have been given the privilege of joining the ABTA board, and look forward to participating in shaping and moving forward the very important ABTA policy agenda for the entire travel industry.”

Abta chief executive, Mark Tanzer, said: “The Abta directors are delighted to welcome Craig to the board.

“His experience of the operational and strategic management of a large vertically integrated airline, tour operator and travel agent will be very relevant to board discussions, as will his legal and strategy expertise in international jurisdictions.

“As the officer of Thomas Cook with primary responsibility for government affairs, Craig will be a great asset in helping to formulate and promote Abta’s policy agenda.”
