Virgin Holidays is to enable clients to wear virtual reality headsets in its travel stores to watch footage of the Rivieria Maya.
The Google Cardboard technology will be available in 50 of its 126 outlets from Boxing Day with footage of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and Miami to be available in 2015.
Meanwhile, Disney MyMagic+ technology provides new online tools to allow people to pre-plan holidays to Walt Disney World. Thirty five Virgin Holidays stores will also feature an interactive display stand that showcases MyMagic+ video content.
In addition, a ‘try a holiday’ booth will tour seven of the group’s shops, offering props such as a Mexican hat for clients to take ‘selfies’.
Holidaymakers who then enquire about a holiday will be entered into a prize draw to win £5,000 towards a holiday which must be booked in that store.
Those spending £100 or more at Debenhams before January 31 will receive £100 off a 2015 holiday booked during the Virgin Holidays sale which runs between December 26 and February 2.
Director of sales trading Lee Haslett, Director of Sales Trading at Virgin Holidays said: “We are thrilled that we will be able to inspire our customers to choose their next holiday by going beyond brochure pages and giving them an immersive experience like no one else on the high street, making holiday planning easier than ever.”
