Belfast sets sights on new US services

BELFASTInternational Airport is targeting new services to key international destinations following a big rise in annual passenger numbers.

Managing director Paul Kehoe said he wanted more non-stop flights into key European and US cities. Where this is not possible, Kehoe will target services to European hubs.

“Where the market does not sustain non-stop international services, feeder services into the key European hubs are the future,” he said.

During 1998/99, Belfastgrew traffic by 8% to 2.7m passengers. International numbers were up 20%.

Most popular route is the KLMUK flight to Amsterdam, carrying 12,000 customers each month.
