A record 1.5 million passengers have booked to fly with easyJet over the Christmas period.
The budget airline will run more than 11,000 flights across its network between December 20 and 29.
Numbers are due to peak on Sunday (December 21) when more than 170,000 passengers will fly on over 1,200 flights across the network.
More than 100,000 are set to fly to or from the carrier’s UK airports on 740 flights on Sunday, toppling a record for the most customers travelling with the airline on one day during the Christmas period.
Belfast and Edinburgh top the list of most popular destinations with many customers returning home for Christmas.
The airline’s UK market director Sophie Dekkers said: “We are seeing high demand across our 700-plus route network peaking on Sunday as more people than ever before are flying either home or on holiday with us in what will be our busiest Christmas ever.
“The Christmas period has always been one of our busiest times of year for our customers and this year will be no exception.
“Whether customers are flying to visit friends and family or incorporating skiing into their Christmas breaks by flying via Geneva, we are doing everything possible to make our customer’s Christmas travel as easy and of course, affordable as possible.”
