Thomas Cook Airlines claims its website saw Christmas traffic more than double this year compared to 2013.
The charter airline said searches on Christmas Day itself were up 58% while they more than doubled on Boxing Day.
And it said the number of people using tablets and mobile devices surpassed those using laptop of desktop computers for the first time.
Dalaman topped the table for searches and bookings on both days. Over 30% of people across the two days searched for flights departing in the first five months of 2015.
Christoph Debus, chief air travel officer for Thomas Cook Group, said: “We’re continually improving our website and coupled with our great offers, more Brit’s than ever before are searching for a wide range of flights whilst enjoying Christmas.
“The abolition of APD for the under 12’s for next summer is clearly influencing where people are looking too, with huge increases in those looking for long haul breaks.”
Boxing Day hits on Thomas Cook Airlines:
• Top 5 destinations – Dalaman, Tenerife, Orlando, New York, Las Vegas
• Device – 47% on Laptop/Desktop, 33% on Tablets, 20% on Mobile
• Long haul searches increased by 199% to 36% all searches
• Top 5 months for travel – January (12%), March (11%) and Feb/Apr/May (9%)
