Airtours acquires Trivselresor in drive to lift European profile

AIRTOURS has continued its European expansion with the acquisition of Swedish operator Trivselresor for £7.5m.

The operation will come under the control of Christer Sandahl who is chairman and chief executive of Airtours’ Scandinavian Leisure Group. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.

Trivsel is the market leader in Sweden and specialises in scheduled air packages. In 1998/99 it carried 120,000 on city breaks and long-haul to the Far East and US. Its brands include Trivsel and Globetrotter in Sweden and Globetrotter in Norway.

Airtours chairman David Crossland said the purchase will give the company its first scheduled-based tour operation in Scandinavia. “It will add to our strong schedule position in the UK with Bridge, Cresta and Tradewinds, in Holland with TravelTrend and in Germany with the operations of FTi.”
