JEAseeks Air France support to get Paris plan back on track

JERSEYEuropean Airways hopes to get its plans to launch a new flight to Paris back on track later this summer.

The airline dropped proposals to start Guernsey-Paris services in April, but general manager of the Channel Islands Ian Taylor said JEA is considering the route again.

He said: “We have slots at Charles de Gaulle and are still assessing the route.”

Taylor said JEA was seeking the backing of codeshare partner Air France to operate joint flights to Paris. This is in line with the airlines operating codeshare flights to Paris from UK regions. Flights are expected to start in the winter.

JEAdropped earlier plans to launch service to Paris after the Guernsey Transport Board rejected the airline’s application to launch Stansted-Guernsey flights (Travel Weekly April 26).

Meanwhile, JEA will improve capacity and service on regional UK routes by the end of the year through replacing Fokker F27s with Dash 8 aircraft. The Dash will go on the Leeds/Bradford-Belfast route first and then replace Fokkers on Channel Islandservices.
