TASMANIA WEB LAUNCHES


Tasmania launched a new Internet site (www.tourism.tas.gov.au) at ATE, spending £61,000 on upgrading the facility. The site lists 1,000 properties, 400 tours, 300 attractions and 200 operators. Another new site features a range of adventure options (www.tasmanianadventures.com.au).


FEDERATION SQUARE RENEWAL


Federation Square, due to be finished in time for Australia’s Centenary celebrations in 2001, is set to become Melbourne’s new cultural heart and will be linked to a new eight hectare riverside park. Facilities will include The Museum of Australian Art; and the Atrium an all-weather shopping precinct.


EL QUESTRO CAPACITY RISES


El Questro Wilderness Park in the Kimberley region has expanded its capacity and now offers 35 tented cabins at Emma Gorge and 10 bungalows at El Questro Township. Prices start from $10 for camping, $103 for a cabin, $140 for bungalows and $1,280 per couple in the luxury homestead.
