WYNDHAM International, the hotel arm of US giant Patriot American Hospitality, has placed its 10 UK and one Jersey-based historic-style hotels on the market for £80m.
Patriot acquired the properties last year after buying hotel group Arcadian International but is now scaling down its UK operations, retaining only its four Malmaison Hotels and the 266-room Great Eastern Hotel in London which is a joint venture with Conran Holdings.
The company plans to roll out more Malmaison hotels and is opening its fifth in Leeds next month.
The news follows the announcement that Patriot’s hotel marketing consortium Grand Heritage Hotels is the subject of a management buy-out by development director Timothy Hadcock-Mackay and finance director David Owen (Travel Weekly June 14).
Grand Heritage has 80 hotel members including the Dalhousie Castle, Edinburgh and The Leonard, London.
