Cruise industry stalwart Audrey Wilson, a founding partner of Bolsover Cruise Club, has passed away aged 78.
During the early 1980s Audrey took the helm as the first partner of Bolsover Travel and went on to run the independent agent for several years, playing a pivotal role in the growth of the business.
As the Chesterfield-based company took its place as a national cruise specialist, Audrey was joined in the business by husband Derek, son Michael and daughter Julie.
In a statement, Michael, now director of the company, described his mum as “entirely dedicated” to the family business.
“In more recent years, Audrey’s devotion to Bolsover Cruise Club has been unwavering, with an active and valued consultancy role held until very recently.
“As the company continues to grow and enjoy even greater success, it holds a special place in its heart for the unsung hero so pivotal in its creation.”
In 1987 Audrey was awarded the Canberra Cruises top agent award for the first time. The following year she went on to receive the award again and since then has retained the title of P&O Cruises top UK agent, an award the agency has picked up for 28 consecutive years, most recently received at last year’s UK Cruise Awards.
