Luggage delivery service Luggage Mule has teamed up with Cruise.co.uk on its new cruise product offering.
The home-to-cruise-cabins service was introduced five months ago with a lead price of £55 for each bag delivered, and since then more than 200 bags have been delivered.
Cruise.co.uk will be Luggage Mule’s first cruise retail partner and the service will be launched to its customer base later this month.
Seamus Conlon, managing director of Cruise.co.uk, said: “Cruise.co.uk has consistently innovated in the cruise sector and we regard Luggage Mule as a great additional service to offer to our customer base.
“We agree that it is an affordable luxury that many of our customers will take up and can be easily promoted via our home workers social media and blogging pages, simply because it’s so innovative and unique.”
Luggage Mule carried out research to find out why people had used the service so far, with findings suggesting that the main factors involved the distance between people’s homes and the departure port, duration of the cruise and the age of the customer.
The findings showed that a disproportionate number of customers booking the service came from Scotland and the north, where their cruise was departing from Southampton.
Jordan Makin, managing director of Luggage Mule, said: “We carried out extensive research on the first group of bookers to fully understand which of our key USPs was the main driver of bookings.
“I was surprised that most comments were actually as simple as ‘It’s an affordable luxury, so why not’.”
