Scott Davis, 24, is a sightseeing guide for bus tour operator London Pride which takes 1.2m tourists a year around the capital. He tells Travel Weekly what the tourists think of London.
“About 50% of our passengers are from the US. After that it’s mainly French and Germans, followed by the Spanish and Italians.
“The Europeans do moan about how high prices are for things like food, drink and accommodation. But I think they come expecting prices to be expensive.
“The Americans don’t complain as much. They think things are good value. Everybody says how beautiful Britain is. We don’t get many complaints about the country. The thing that people talk about is how closely populated London is, and how busy.
“They say they haven’t seen anything like it before, particularly around Piccadilly and the West End, even when it doesn’t seem particularly busy to us. A lot of the Europeans only come to London, but the Americans ask us about other places like Oxford, Cambridge, Windsor and Edinburgh. They are the most popular.”
