Visit Wales issues fraud warning

Visit Wales has issued an urgent message via email, alerting Welsh tourism businesses about a possible fraud.

The message said: “We have been made aware that a number of tourism businesses across Wales have been contacted by phone to say that they are due a refund on advertising with Visit Wales.

“They are then asked to provide their credit card details.

“Please be aware that this is nothing to do with Visit Wales and the call is a potential SCAM.”

The message advises businesses which have been contacted in this way to contact Action Fraud – the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and internet crime.

If businesses have provided any card details, they are urged take action immediately.

Action Fraud can be contacted on 0300 123 2040 or via the actionfraud.police.uk website.
