Iglu Cruise launches into river sector

Iglu Cruise is launching into the river cruise market to capitalise on the growth of the sector.

The agency has set up a dedicated team to handle all river-related product and bookings to ensure the product “receives the necessary focus and expertise”.

Simone Clark, managing director of the online cruise specialist, said it was a “natural progression” for the business.

She added: “We’ve been successfully selling ocean cruises for a number of years now and it’s a natural progression for us to add river cruise to our portfolio as it’s an exciting and growing market, which offers such a wide array of high quality products and exciting itineraries.”

Clark said staff had been working with river cruise lines for some time and that she hoped to become “a key partner” in the sector.

A dedicated area has been set up on Iglu’s area for river product and it currently features more than 2,000 individual river cruises on 160 different ships on 38 rivers.

Commenting on the move into the river sector, Kathryn Beadle, UK managing director of Uniworld, said: “Iglu have had phenomenal success in promoting ocean cruising and we are delighted that they have turned their attention to river cruise.

“The level of professionalism, attention to detail and customer focus that they will bring to this sector will guarantee a boom in sales.”

Planet Cruise, which is owned by Iglu, will get a river cruise section added to its website in the near future.
