P&O Cruises gears up for arrival of Britannia

P&O Cruises is gearing up for a week of agent and consumer events as it awaits the arrival of new ship Britannia into Southampton today (Friday).

More than 3,000 agents have been invited on board as the line showcases the £473 million ship before its maiden cruise in a week’s time.

A series of events have been planned around the naming of the 3,647-passenger vessel by the Queen on Tuesday.

Britannia is due to sail into Southampton from its shipyard in Italy at lunchtime today, with the first agents invited on board over the weekend.

Thousands of past and prospective passengers have also been invited to view the new ship during its time in its home port.

A short cruise to nowhere will run next week as part of the inaugural events.

The line’s five celebrity ‘Food Heroes’ – Marco Pierre White, James Martin, Atul Kochhar, Eric Lanlard and Olly Smith – are due to be on board for the official naming.
