Jet2holidays extends lead at top of Atol table as capacity surpasses 7m

Jet2holidays has extended its Atol past the seven-million mark, following the latest round of licence renewals by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The Jet2.com package holiday operator remains the largest Atol holder, increasing its licence from 6.7 million passengers in March.

Tui remains in second place, maintaining its capacity at 5.85 million, but easyJet holidays has moved from fifth to fourth in the list, to just over three million – up from 2.2 million in March.

EasyJet holidays chief executive Garry Wilson said the operator was committed to additional capacity in 2025 when he spoke at a Travel Weekly Future of Travel conference in London last week.

“We [easyJet holidays] are only 7% of the airline [easyJet.com] capacity so the ability to grow is pretty big. There is no point in chasing numbers, it’s got to be sustainable, but absolutely we will grow,” he told delegates.

Loveholidays, which renews its licence in spring, remains in third with just over four million passengers while On the Beach moves from sixth up to fifth despite trimming its Atol from 2.3 million to 2.1 million.

It overtook Booking.com which has halved capacity from 2.3 million in March to almost 1.3 million.

British Airways Holidays is in seventh spot (almost 1.2m), followed by BravoNext, Marella Cruises and Expedia.

Virgin Holidays is in 11th spot, with just over 300,000, with Southall Travel in 13th and Carnival in 14th.

Thomas Cook is 15th with just over 215,000, ahead of Trailfinders (203,617), Hays Tour Operating (160,391) and Travel Counsellors (151,199).

Travel Republic is 19th, with Emirates Holidays 20th.

Atol holders that have renewed in October will be licensed from October 1 to September 30, 2025. Allocations for those renewing in spring will be announced in early April 2025 for the period from April 1, 2025, to March 30, 2026.
