BTI chief voices concerns about effects of airline tie-ups

BTICHIEF executive officer David Radcliffe has warned that airline alliances will mean less choice and poorer quality for business travellers.

He said:”One of my concerns is that the business travel agent can do a deal with an alliance, but it detracts from the deal which could have been done locally with an airline or its competitor. Airlines can issue a through code to travellers and change an aircraft to another in the alliance. It could mean travellers only get the quality of the airline they want for part of their total journey.”
