Music and lights for party time

SAN FRANCISCO has unveiled a programme of millennium celebration events which is being promoted to the international market.

These include popular music venues, opera, ballet and a host of dinner-dance cruises from the bay, while many top hotels are organising their own themed parties with top entertainment.

The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is the site for a huge party on December 31 with headline bands. More information will be available on www.NYE2000.com from September 1.

The San Francisco Ballet will stage two special daytime performances of the Nutcracker Suite, while the city’s Symphony Orchestra is presenting a New Year’s Millennium Gala.

Also planned is a spiritual celebration sponsored by the Glide Memorial Church in Union Square, with a firework display off the Golden Gate Bridge and a bash at the Ferry Building.
