Celebrity Cruises’ director of sales to leave cruise line

Celebrity Cruises’ director of sales Nicki Tempest-Mitchell is to leave the business.

Tempest-Mitchell, who has worked at the cruise line since 2007, is leaving to join Thomas Cook as head of retail for the central region.

In a letter to staff internally, Celebrity Cruises UK managing director said Tempest-Mitchell’s decision was made so she could be closer to home and enjoy more time with her young family.

Rzymowska said: “During her time at Celebrity Cruises Nicki has risen through the ranks to lead our first ever dedicated sales team. Her tenacity, drive and great sense of humour has kept us all on our toes, and down to earth.

“We know Nicki will go on to great things in her future career and I am very proud that Celebrity Cruises has been the business where Nicki had the opportunity to really show off her capabilities.”

It hasn’t been revealed when she will leave the business and take up her new role. Rzymowska said in the meantime, Tempest Mitchell would continue to work on key projects focused around sales and working with trade partners.

Celebrity Cruises is currently looking for a replacement.

At Thomas Cook Tempest-Mitchell will work alongside Clive Newton, head of retail north, and Torey Kings-Hodkin, head of retail south.

Commenting on the appointment, Cook’s director of retail and customer experience, Kathryn Darbandi, said: “I’m delighted that Nicki will be joining us as head of retail central for the Thomas Cook and The Co-operative retail network.

“Ensuring that we have the right senior team in place to support the field team and our stores is incredibly important, and Nicki has all the experience and capabilities we look for in such a critical role. I’m looking forward to working closely with her as we drive the execution of our distribution strategy and deliver improved performance across our retail estate.”

Jacqui Holt, previously head of retail central, will be leaving the Thomas Cook and The Co-operative Travel retail network to take up the position of head of Thomas Cook Sport, based in our Altrincham offices. Caroline Wood, who had been holding the position on an interim basis, will revert to her role of director of football for Thomas Cook Sport.
