It is fantastic to see a range of newcomers alongside the familiar faces in this year’s line-ups, says Travel Weekly’s Lucy Huxley
The unveiling of the shortlists for the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards is always an exciting moment for us – and I’m sure a nerve-wracking one for the suppliers anxious to see if they have made the line-ups.
The Globes are particularly special as they reflect the views of the thousands of travel agents who deal with customers day in, day out, and the shortlists have been compiled based on their nominations.
Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of familiar faces on the lists, which you can explore in the special supplement accompanying this week’s edition of Travel Weekly.
But it is also fantastic to see a range of newcomers, reflecting a vibrant travel trade where there is opportunity for new product to come to market and for existing suppliers to expand their agent distribution.
The awards themselves will be presented at a typically glittering ceremony in London in January, when we will also find out who has won special awards reflecting excellence in areas such as sustainability, accessibility and staff welfare.
I was also blown away by the number and quality of nominations for our Unsung Hero Award, which honours individuals whose efforts for colleagues, consumers and communities reflect the best of our industry.
As always, we couldn’t do any of this without our agent readers’ support, so thank you for taking part in the nomination process.
Now we just need you to help decide who will win a coveted Globe by checking out the supplement with this week’s issue and heading to globetravelawards.co.uk to cast your all-important votes.
