Exeter airport is gearing up for growth next year after a 5% rise in passenger numbers this summer.
The introduction of a Palma service by Ryanair contributed to the year-on-year increase to almost 338,000 passengers between April and October.
August the busiest month when almost 57,000 passengers used the airport.
The Devon airport is preparing for further growth in 2025, with Tui confirming plans to base a second aircraft at the airport next summer.
The expansion is set to add 80,000 seats and include new flights Ibiza, along with additional services to destinations such as the Canaries, Greek islands and Turkey.
The summer performance follows the airport returning to profit for the first time since the pandemic in the 12 months to March.
The profit of more than £1 million represented a £2 million turnaround on the year before. Passenger numbers stood at 435,000, up 8% on the previous year’s 402,000.
Exeter airport is operated by Regional & City Airports which also owns Bournemouth and Norwich airports.
The group recorded almost 1.5 million passengers during the summer, up from 1.31 million in the same period last year – an increase of 13.4%.
